Project name: Les Stagg Oval 6 – tier aluminium grandstand seating

Location
Proserpine is just 20 minutes from Airlie Beach in Far North Queensland and in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. With a growing population the council is updating facilities for the ongoing comfort of the town. Including upgrading of sports facilities with improved spectator seating.
Requirement
The existing grandstand at Les Stagg Oval was a dilapidated steel and timber structure deemed unsafe and not complying to Public Safety, Public Liability and OH&S requirements.
The Whitsunday Regional Council conducted a Google Search for Aluminium grandstand seating manufacturers finding our website on page 1 and contacted us for our assistance.
Solution
We were able to provide the Whitsunday Council previous completed projects that were similar in nature that highlighted our capacity to provide the right solution for their needs.
Specifically, our grandstand installed at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra was an ideal case study displaying our design and manufacturing capabilities.
Following further discussions to scope the exact requirements for the new Less Stag Oval grandstand, BAB developed the GS4 grandstand to retain the seating capacity of the old grandstand while complying with modern safety requirements.
The grandstand was shipped to Proserpine flat-packed including easy-to-follow assembly instructions. Enabling local engineering contractors to easily assemble the new grandstand.
Result
The new GS4 grandstand is a 26 metre long, 6-tiered grandstand with safety rails and it duplicates the seating capacity of the old grandstand.
Our new GS4 satisfies Insurance and Safety needs as required by the Council. Moreover, our grandstand is Cyclone Rated and is backed by a Structural Certificate.
The grandstand provides unobstructed viewing from every seat with the access steps that can be easily loaded and unloaded by spectators.
